BRIEF HISTORY ON CREMATION

Cremation has been a choice of preparing a person’s mortal remains for final disposition for centuries. Cremation probably dates back as far as 4000 B.C., and has been practiced throughout the world depending upon religious beliefs or a person’s wealth. In Roman times, cremation was reserved only for those who had wealth, while in many Asian countries; cremation was almost the exclusive form of disposition.

NAVIGATING THROUGH OUR CREMATION SECTION

We've provided you with three additional pages on cremation.  You may find those pages within the "Cremation" tab on the main page.  Please take the time to read them.  They will answer just about every question you may have on cremation.

Please contact us if you have any questions that you've felt we've left un-answered.

Many families are choosing Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory for their cremation needs.  As the only funeral provider in Fairfield County to operate a private on-site crematory (located at our sister facility in Stamford), we can offer something that no one else can – peace of mind.  Unlike other funeral homes that utilize public crematories, your loved one never leaves the care of our compassionate funeral directors and staff.

Other funeral homes will transport your loved one to a public crematory in either New York State or Northern Connecticut where they are left to be managed by individuals you never hired. You as the consumer should expect your funeral service provider to keep your loved one safe and in their custody at all times.  No one can except for us.

If your choice is cremation, there is no other choice than Hoyt-Cognetta.  We are also flexible to the needs of our families.  If your wish is to participate in the cremation process, you may do so.   You may also stop by and visit us to see how our state of the art ‘tracking system’ operates. This system eliminates any concerns of mismanaged cremated remains.  We guarantee you will receive your loved one back.
